What is your why?

Your “why” is your reason for action. It is your will, your power, your desire, and it is your dedication. Whether you are relaxing, creating, meditating, or building — your “why” creates the reason. 

Our “why” can also be referred to as our intent; or intention. Intention is the force which fuels our fire and gives meaning to our actions. It works as a catalyst to aligning our thoughts, beliefs, emotions and behavior together for a common goal. 

When we take even a small moment to contemplate the meaning behind our actions we begin to develop and demonstrate a deep and conscious approach to life. 

What we do now echoes in eternity.

A shift occurs when we intentionally cultivate intention. From that moment every movement we make must align with our truest self. When we have no intention behind an action, it becomes meaningless, holding no value to enrich our lives or the lives of others. 

Before we embark on any journey or engage ourselves in action we must ask one question: “What is my why?”

If you can establish significance, value, or benefit then you can proceed with confidence that you possess the drive, dedication, and  vision to create your desired outcome. By consciously attaching yourself to a desired outcome, you begin to manifest it into reality, translating your intentions into tangible results.

How to cultivate intention —

  1. Reflect: Take a moment to understand why you are engaging in a particular action. Ask yourself what is driving you and what you hope to achieve.
  2. Evaluate: Consider whether your actions align with your core values and beliefs. Assess if they contribute to your personal growth, well-being, and the well-being of others.
  3. Consider: Reflect on the potential consequences of your actions and the impact they may have on yourself and others. Assess if your intentions lead to positive and sustainable outcomes.
  4. Recognize: Cultivate present-moment awareness by staying attuned to your thoughts, feelings, and intentions as you engage in various activities, you can better assess and align them with your desired outcomes.
  5. Critique: Always reflect on the opposite spectrum or desired outcome. When in doubt, open up with trusted friends, mentors, or loved ones for constructive feedback. Different perspectives can help you gain insights into your intentions and motivations.

Remember that assessing intention is a practice and an on going process. It requires self-reflection, a willingness to learn and grow, and a commitment to aligning your actions with your authentic values and aspirations. Be gentle with yourself on your journey to deeper understanding.
